McCain Yorkshire Coast 10km Road Race
& Family Fun Run.  Sunday 11th October 2009.

The McCain Yorkshire Coast 10k road race and Family Fun Run is now less than 1 week away!!
We have 948 runners entered for the 10k and 160 runners for the Fun Run!!
If you entered the fun run after October 2nd please pick your race entries up on the day from the Registration desk.

The race packs have been posted out on Saturday 3rd October (morning) and they should be with you all on Monday, Tuesday or at the latest Wednesday. There was a slight delay in posting due to a delay in receiving the printed race numbers.
If in the unusual event you have not received your race pack by Thursday 8th October please reply to this email and we will arrange for you to pick up a replacement race pack on the day along with your electronic timing chip.

In the race pack you’ll find your race number, along with some important information about the event. Please take a few minutes to read the information and then complete the medical and emergency contact details on the reverse side of your race number, using permanent non-smudge ink.
On the day, pin your number securely at each corner to the front of your top. Please do not fold or cover your number.

McCain Track & Field Roadshow & Ambassadors.
We have an exciting edition of three Olympians attending the event. Sally Gunnell (OBE) will start and run the races along with Iwan Thomas (MBE). Joined by a team of other top athletes, families will have the chance to try their hand at athletics in this fun experience. Top sports nutritionist Jane Griffin will also be on hand to give advice on all aspects of diet. At the finish your ‘ChampionChip’ tag will be removed and you can proceed to the merchandise collection points.

If you feel ill and have to retire from the race for any reason please contact a Marshal. They will deal with your needs and report to race headquarters. Your timing chip will also be collected. First Aid will be supplied by St Johns Ambulance Service. Transport back to Race HQ will be provided if necessary.

TIME LIMITS (10Km race).
We have, by necessity, imposed a cut off time of 85 minutes for the race. This does not mean that you will be retired from the race if you take longer, but you may be asked to walk on the pavement (if you are still on Marine Drive as the road has to re-open at 11:30), or walk at the edge of the road to let the Fun Run commence if you are on the Foreshore. As long as you finish and cross the line you will receive a time and T-shirt. A sweep vehicle will provide transport should runners wish to retire.

Please adhere to all UKA regulations for the race. Obey all instructions from the Race Officials and Marshals. Please do not drop any litter and please use the toilets provided. Respect other pedestrians where you share the pavements with them.
