The McCain Yorkshire Coast 10K Road Race
& Family Fun Run - Sunday 21st October 2018.

The 10th anniversary McCain Yorkshire Coast 10k sells out in just two and a half hours!

The 2,500 places for this year’s 10th McCain Yorkshire Coast 10k were snapped up in just two and a half hours, organisers said today.

Entries opened at 7am on Friday morning and all 2,500 places for the 21st October run had been taken by 9.30am.
The number of entries had been increased from last year’s 2,000, to cope with increased demand and to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the run.
Organiser Scarborough Athletic Club is delighted with the response.

Scarborough AC Member Glenn Shelton, who coordinated the sign-up via the club’s website, said he was amazed.
“It was a fantastic response and far exceeded our expectations,” he said. “We knew from last year that the race was growing in popularity but didn’t think the 2,500 places would go quite so quickly. I guess that shows the popularity of the run. We have been totally overwhelmed by the positive feedback from everyone, proving once again that this is Yorkshire’s premier 10k road race.”

Joint Race Director Mike Padgham, added: “Today was just amazing and it is a tribute to Glenn and everyone who has been involved at the club that the sign-up for the run has been such a great success. “We can’t believe that all the places went so quickly and are delighted that the race is just so popular with runners from the local area and further afield. Now we can’t wait for the run itself.”

The 10k follows a course from the Spa along the seafront and around the Marine Drive to the Sands complex, then through Peasholm Gardens, past the Open Air Theatre to the Sea Life Centre and then back via the seafront, to the Spa. The 10k will be followed by two family fun runs at 1.6k and 2.5k.

Main sponsor for the event will be McCain Foods with other sponsors being Ringway Traffic Management, Scarborough Borough Council, Sainsbury’s, Andy Hire Sales and Service Ltd, Glass House Café and Bistro and P&L Sound and Lighting. Media partners are Scarborough News and Yorkshire Coast Radio.
