The 2,500 places for this year’s 10th McCain Yorkshire Coast 10k were snapped up in just two and a half hours, organisers said today.
Entries opened at 7am on Friday
morning and all 2,500 places for the 21st October run had been taken by
Scarborough AC Member Glenn Shelton,
who coordinated the sign-up via the club’s website, said he was amazed.
Joint Race Director Mike Padgham, added: “Today was just amazing and it
is a tribute to Glenn and everyone who has been involved at the club that the
sign-up for the run has been such a great success. “We can’t believe that all the places
went so quickly and are delighted that the race is just so popular with
runners from the local area and further afield. Now we can’t wait for the run
The 10k follows a course from the Spa
along the seafront and around the Marine Drive to the Sands complex, then
through Peasholm Gardens, past the Open Air Theatre to the Sea Life Centre and then back via
